Let your imagination take you back through history as you traverse the route used by the First Nations people centuries before the Basque fishermen and Nicolas Denys first developed trade links at this connection between the Ocean and the Inland Sea, known as the St. Peter’s Canal.
Your tour is on Cu Na Mara, a 25 ft. sailboat, and takes you through the St, Peter’s Canal, a Parks Canada National Historic Site. This is a motorized, no sail tour.
Guests are invited to discuss the history and operation of the canal with Parks Canada Interpreters who handle the docking lines as we are locked through the canal. The tour continues with a ride in the ocean around St. Peter’s bay and back through the canal. Duration is approximately 1 ½ hours.
Children and those young at heart often find it exciting to steer the boat through the canal and especially out on the ocean.
